November 5, 2009

The St. Louis Business Journal

The Federal Highway Administration has allocated $20 million in federal stimulus to build a new four- to six-lane road between Page Avenue and Olive Boulevard that will replace a narrow, two-lane stretch of Creve Coeur Mill Road.

The $67 million Page-Olive connector will ultimately link to the Maryland Heights Expressway to the north and Highway 141 to the south.

County officials said they expect to begin construction next summer and complete it by the summer of 2012.

“This is a huge ‘next step’ for one of the largest road construction projects ever undertaken by St. Louis County,” St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley said in a statement Wednesday. “It will create hundreds of construction jobs, not to mention many years of smooth flowing traffic.”

The county has picked four teams to bid for the design-build contract. Bids are due Jan. 21.

The teams are:

Fred Weber Inc. and Parsons Transportation Group Inc.

KCI Construction Co. Inc. and Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.

Millstone Bangert Inc. and Mactec Engineering and Consulting

St. Louis Bridge Construction Co., Hanson Professional Services Inc., Gaines Construction Inc. and MTC Construction Inc.
